Description
ASF (Ambidextrous Selector, Forward Controls) centers are available in all four configurations: 50 degrees, 90 degrees, conventional M16 (0-90-180), and short throw M16 (0-50-180, SAFE to SEMI is 50 degrees short throw, AUTO/BURST is unchanged, 180 degrees from SAFE).
ASF centers are compatible only with ASF levers. Each ASF center is shipped with 4 additional roll pins, an FCD 17-4 H900 stainless steel, black nitrided detent, and a selector detent spring.
The CA (Command Actuation) 90 degrees center variant uses a 91 degrees detent groove that requires a heavy and deliberate throw of the ASF levers to move from SAFE to FIRE, and FIRE to SAFE, and designed to reduce the likelihood of unintentional and accidental selector actuation, an ASF equipped with the CA center will spring back to to original position without the user’s deliberate intent to rotate the safety. ASF CA requires a few cycles to break in.
